Spa’s Filter System Replacement
Sometimes a pool’s equipment just can’t keep up with the workload. That was the case for one of our recent projects, where a sand filter was struggling to keep the water clear and clean. Sand filters do a decent job, but over time they lose efficiency — especially in high-use pools here in Santa Clara County.
The Problem: Sand Filter Falling Behind
Our client’s sand filter had been in place for years. Despite regular backwashing and maintenance, it simply wasn’t catching the finer debris. The result? Cloudy water, poor circulation, and a system that was working harder than it should.
The Solution: Upgrade to a DE Filter
After reviewing the setup, we recommended an upgrade to a diatomaceous earth (DE) filter. DE filters offer the highest level of filtration in the pool industry, capable of trapping particles as small as 2–5 microns. That means cleaner, sparkling water with less strain on the pump.
Here’s what we did:
- Removed the old sand filter that was no longer performing.
- Safely disposed of the sand media and cleared the area for the new equipment.
- Installed a brand-new DE filter, properly sized to match the pool’s circulation needs.
The Results: Crystal-Clear Water & Better Performance
With the new DE filter in place, the pool is now running at peak efficiency. The water is noticeably clearer, chemical use is more balanced, and the pump no longer has to overwork to keep up.
Why Upgrade from Sand to DE?
- Superior filtration – removes even the finest particles.
- Clearer water – a noticeable difference compared to sand.
- Better efficiency – your equipment doesn’t have to work as hard.
- Long-term savings – less chemical demand and fewer maintenance headaches.
